This is a news blog to provide information on the musician Marcus Eaton and his band. Here you will find a bio, tour dates, reviews, and links to music, video and other places on the web where you can enjoy the music or become part of the fan community.
*****BIO*********
"MARCUS EATON plays the acoustic, but not like you might expect. He rapidly shifts between frantic fingerpicking and strumming, clean acoustic sounds and swirling, looped effects. His music fits firmly in the post-modern musical relativism that has become the norm among a new generation of musicians – viewing genre distinctions not as absolutes but as starting points . . ." Adam Moore, Premier Guitar Magazine
"Marcus has a deep connection with another realm that the rest of us only get to glimpse when we listen to his music or see him play live. He communicates through his guitar in a way that is wholly unique, technically amazing, and yet emotionally clear and pure."
A Fan, The Gorge Ampitheater, 2008
"One of the best performances we've had in our studio. A superstar in the making." Mark & Brian of the syndicated Mark & Brian morning show, KLOS-FM Los Angeles
"Marcus weaves a tapestry rich in musical depth and soulful feeling. Sweet impassioned spot-on singing round out this total package of dynamite." Tim Reynolds
"The gorgeous-sounding result ... solidifies this 26-year-old as a singer, songwriter and guitarist to be reckoned with on a national scale." Michael Deeds, Idaho Statesman
"Eaton is one of a relative few who, like Sting, can create music that is this complex and yet make it sound easy and natural." George Graham, The Graham Weekly Album Review
"The songs blur genre lines right out of existence with a multitude of instrumentation and thoughtful, thought-provoking lyrics." Amy Atkins, Boise Weekly
"Marcus Eaton is the real deal. His music resonates long after the song is over." TJ Baden, Baden Guitars
Marcus Eaton's lyrics often reflect the natural beauty that surrounded him growing up on top of a mountain in rural Idaho, but the level of talent of this self-taught musician is world-class. Incorporating rock, reggae, flamenco, classical, jazz and folk, his mastery is recognized by many accomplished musicians and professionals in the industry.
Marcus has been warmly received by Baden Guitars, Fishman, Mesa Boogie, TC Electronics, Sennheiser and Radial, and has opened for an array of acts including Jewel, Bob Dylan, Train, Victor Wooten, Buckethead, Tim Reynolds, The Dave Matthews Band, Derek Trucks Band, John Mayer, Counting Crows, Edwin McCain, Ozomatli, Young Dubliners, Michael Franit & Spearhead, New Monsoon, Jason Mraz, Collective Soul, Sheryl Crow, Guster, Ben Taylor Band, Nils Lofgren, Rodrigo Y Gabriela, Gin Blossoms, Jake Shimabukuro and Blackalicious.
THE MARCUS EATON TRIO has been spending time on the road since January, lighting up rooms across the country with Kevin Rogers' intuitive drums, James Monson's tight bass and Marcus' distinctive songwriting, sophisticated guitar work and gorgeous voice. The Trio just played the side stage for the Dave Matthews Band at the Gorge and will continue to tour throughout the U.S. including some dates with Tim Reynold's band, TR3. Here is a video from the Gorge with Tim Reynolds sitting in. The band will be recording an album in the near future, and Marcus continues to write new material that quickly finds its way into the sets, keeping their live performances fresh and exciting.
Marcus was featured in the July 2008 issue of Premier Guitar Magazine. He was Listener's Generation's July Artist of the Month. Marcus' latest album, Story of Now, was chosen by WVIA'S George Graham as the #1 CD of 2007. The self-produced album showcases Marcus' talent as a guitarist, songwriter, vocalist and producer.
